      本单元围绕“动物园里的动物”为主题,要求学生通过学习能通过听、说、读、写的形式描述各种常见动物及表达自己的喜好。

      本课时内容为Section A1a-2c,是本单元的第一课时。本部分主要通过听说活动学习并掌握表示动物的名词和描述动物特征的形容词,了解各种动物生长的地方和习性,并能正确运用whywhatwhere引导的特殊疑问句来谈论对动物的喜好和原因。使学生学会自主的去搜寻关于珍稀动物的资料,提高学生关心动物和爱护自然的认识。

    • 学情分析

      大多数学生在小学阶段就已经学过一些动物的英文名称,例如monkeypanda,dog,cat,tiger等;在初一上学期的英语学习中,对于描绘性的形容词也掌握了一些,例如interesting,fun,boring,beautiful;对于WhatWhyWhere引导的特殊疑问句及其答语也有接触。但是有部分同学掌握得并不是很好,所以在课堂上要让学生多练习,以达到巩固的目的,注重培养学生的语言交际能力和听力策略的指导。

    • 教学目标

    Knowledge aims:

    To handle the words of animals and the adjectives to express preferences.

    Ability aims:

    To guide the students use the structures with Why questions and let students to ask and answer what the animals they like and how they like them.

    Emotional aims:

    To enable students to share feelings with classmates, try to build a good relationship with each other.

    1. To handle the words and expressions about animals; Some adjectives of quality to describe animals.

    2. To guide the students use the Why questions to ask and to use the Because sentence to express the reasons.

    • 教学过程

    Step 1 Warming up and Lead-in

    Enjoy the English song: Old Macdonald had a farm. /Animals.

    Qs: Do you like animals?

    What animals can you hear in the song?

    What other animals do you know?

       To elicit the topic: Unit 5 Why do you like pandas? (Section A1a-2c)

       (设计意图:过播放与动物有关的英文歌曲,激发学生的学习兴趣,让学生较快地进入到本单元主题。)

    Step 2 Words study

       1. Show some pictures to help students to learn some new words about animals and some adjectives of quality to describe them.

       Qs: What’s this animal in English?

    (It’s a tiger/koala/panda/lion/an elephant/fox/wolf/kangaroo/…)

           What do you think of the tiger/koala/giraffe/lion/…?

           (It’s scary/cute/clever/beautiful/interesting/fun/smart/…)

     (设计意图:通过图片学习动物名称和描述动物特点的词汇,为之后的口语交际做铺垫,扫清学习障碍。)

    2. Guessing game.

      a. It’ very scary. It’s the king of the forest.

       b. It’s very big and heavy. It has strong legs. It has a long nose.

       c. It’s very cute. But it’s very lazy.

       d. It’ from Sichuan China. It’s black and white.

       e. It’s very scary. It looks like a cat, but it’s bigger than a cat.

       f. It’ very beautiful. It has a very long neck.

       g. It’s very kind of interesting. It’s smart and it looks like people.

       (设计意图:通过描述猜词的形式是为了巩固新学的词汇。)

    Step 3 Sentence presentation

    Qs: Where can we see so many aimals?(过渡,衔接)

    1. Show a picture of the zoo and match the words with the animals in the picture.work on 1a.

    2. Talk about the animals in it.

      Qs: What’s your favorite animal?

         Why do you like …?

         Where are they from?

    (设计意图:通过1a的挂图和任务,既复习词汇又引出新的句型和对话。)

    Step 4 Practice

        1. Ask the students to read the conversations in the pictrure.

    2. Ask the students to make new conversations with their partners with the following useful expressions.

    Let’s see the lions.

    Why do you want to see them?

    Because they are cute/smart/friendly/fun/ …

    Where are they from?

    3. Ask several pairs to act out in front of the class.

    (设计意图:通过两人问答,练习由whywhere引导的特殊疑问句及简要回答,培养学生的语言实际运用能力,为下一步听力减轻难度。)

    Step 5 Listening

       1. Listen and check the animals in 1a.(work in 1b)

    2. Listen and write the animals you hear. Draw a line from the animals to the description words and the countries they are from.(work in 2a)

    (Listening strategies: Take notes while listening for the first time. For example, when you hear the name of the animal, you can write down the first letter of it ,and then complete it after listening.Play it again if necessary.)

    3. Listen again. Complete the conversation with the words in 2a. (work on 2b)

    (设计意图:通过听力检测学生对有关动的物词汇和Whywhere引导的特殊疑问句的掌握情况,以及听力能力的培养。)

    Step 5 Group work

    1. Work in group of four. Make a survey.

    Qs: What animals do you like or dislike?

       Why do/don’t you like …?

    2. Make a report.

      e.g. I like…/don’t like…, because …. Lucy likes/doesn’t like…, because….

    (设计意图:通过小组活动,培养学生的口语和语言运用能力以及团体合作能力的展示。

    Step 6 Summary and Homework

    1. Ask students to summarize what they have learned and paly an ad to tell them : Animals are our good friends. We should love and protect them.”

    2. To write down several sentences to describe your and your group members’ favorite animals and give the reasons.

    (设计意图:归纳总结本课学习重点,并布置写句子对学生进行输出性训练。通过广告引导学生热爱动物,自觉保护动物,培养学生维护生态平衡的情操,因此达到道德情感的升华。)
