Teaching goals
To practise making inferences.
Train the students’ reading ability.
Learn and practise some new language points.
To practise“It be + 强调部分+ that + 句子的其他成份”.

Teaching procedures
Step I: Greetings
Greet the students as usual.
Step II: Warm up
1.As we know, there are many successful persons in the world. Some are actors, like Chen Long. And some are singers. So the first task is: Think of a successful person that you admire. What does he or she do and why do you admire this person?
Give the students two minutes to think over. Then ask some students to give their opinions. Write the spirit and characteristics on the blackboard.
2.Ask the students to look at the Key Words on the screen and learn them. Then show some pictures and each quote to the students. Let them guess who they are and what kind of jobs they have. Ask several students to answer the questions.
Step III: Pre-reading
Firstly, let the students get familiar with the new words by reading them loudly after me.
After reading, give them one minute to go over the new words. Ask them “which word is the most difficult one?” Write the word on the blackboard and explain it.
Step IV: Reading
Firstly, give students some minutes to read the text quickly and point out the task: Work out the main ideas by matching the topics and the paragraphs.
2.Then, ask the students to read the text carefully again. At the same time, play the tape for the students. They can check their pronunciation of some new words.
3.In order to let the students understand the text better, when I pause the tape, check the answers to the questions on the screen. I can select some students to answer the questions.
Step V : Language points
Show some expressions and a sentence structure. And give the students some explanations and practice.
Step VI: Summary
Today we have known some successful persons and their jobs, especially the main character Wang Junyan. After learning the text, we find they have the same spirit and characteristics. Their spirit is worth learning. Now let’s go over the spirit. They are hard working, never be defeated and be curious about everything .They also kind-hearted. So in order to fit for the society, we should master some skills and spirit. And at the same time, we also learn some new words and expressions especially the emphasized sentence structure.
