半途而废的故事 

give up halfway

    In Han Dynasty,there was a virtuous woman in Henan county.People didn't know her name , just knew she was  leyangzi's wife.One day,leyangzi picked up a pieces of gold on the road, and handed it to his wife.His wife said," I was told that person with ideal never drink water from "steal" fount  for its nauseous  name, he would rather die than eat food handed out with  desecrating. the rather  that pick up others' lost property.This is a  smirch    on his moral.  "  Hearing his wife's words,  lenyangzi felt ashamed, threw the gold to the field and went- off outside for studying .

       One year later,leyangzi went back home.His wife kneeled down and asked why he is back. leyangzi said ,"just miss home,no othersakes."  His wife heard ,held a knife beside a loom and said," the silk on this loom is made from silkworm  pod and being waved on the machine, thread by thread, they accumulated one inch  ,inch by inch,they accumulated one Zhang and then one pi,but if I cut them now all my previous efforts will waste  and so do my time. studying is similar ,day after day, you  accumulate  new knowledge  ,and perfect your moral,if you give up on the half way,is it different from the broken silk?"

      lenyangzi was so moved by his wife's words,then he went back continuing his studying and never went back home  in  successive seven years.
