The rabbit and the turtle

Q: Is the turtle slower than the rabbit?

     Once upon a time, there lived a rabbit who could run really fast. The rabbit ignored other animals who couldn’t run as fast as himself.

     One day, the rabbit saw a crawling turtle.

     “Hey turtle! Why are you so slow?” The rabbit said scornfully.

     “What? I’m not slower than you.” The angry turtle shouted.

     “All right. Shall we run a race and see who’s faster?” The turtle said.

     “Ha ha ha! A race with a crawler like you?” The rabbit was taken aback but accepted the race to beat the turtle.

     “How about to the tree up on the hill?” The turtle said.

     “Ha ha ha! Sounds good to me”, said the rabbit.

     “Ready, go!”

     At last the race began. The rabbit even took off the shoes and run as fast as he could.

     In a moment the rabbit was far ahead of the turtle. But the turtle kept crawling with all his efforts.

     “Ha ha ha! Catch me if you can, you slow turtle!” The fast-running rabbit looked back, and the turtle was crawling 

up the mountain in a distance.

     The rabbit lay on the grass. “I’ll take a short break.” And he fell asleep.

     When the rabbit was sleeping soundly, the turtle kept climbing the mountain slowly.

     Finally, the turtle reached the top of the mountain.

     “Hurrah! I win!” shouted the turtle.

     Only then the rabbit awoke from sleep and ran up the mountain. But the turtle was resting under in the shade of a tree, wiping his sweat.

     The rabbit regretted looking down on the turtle. “I’m sorry, turtle. I promise I won’t call you a crawler and laugh at you.”

     “It’s all right.” So the rabbit and the turtle became good friends.
