On october 15^th ,2003,at 9:00am Yang Liwei became the first Chinese citizen in space . He was in space for 21hours and went around the earth 14times .He travelled more than 600,000kilometres.

Later that day , people all over China were celebrating . Crowds of people were waiting for him when he landed . When he returned to Beijing , thousands of people were on the streets . they were cheering .
