If you are only planning to live here for a short while, the stupidest thing to do is to buy new appliances.（用具） The second-hand market looks a bit dubious（不确定的）, but don’t be intimidated（胁迫）. Sometimes the quality is not the greatest, but most everything is returnable（可退回的）. Just go for middle-of-the-road stuff（塞满，填满）, and it is usually fine. Remember to get a name card when buying something.
