Dialogue2
A conversation between a teacher and a student
Ravi: May I come in, Sir?
Mr. Yan: Come in, Ravi. I am a little worried about your math study. Your grades last term were not very good. I hope we can find out the reason and solve your problem together.
Ravi: Thank you, Mr. Yan. I was new in this school, this city last term. It’s very different from where I stayed. And I found it difficult to adapt to it at first.
Mr. Yan: I see. It needs time. There is so much you should adjust to. So how do you find it now? Do you still have difficulty in following me in class?
Ravi: No. It’s much better. I went over the textbook we used last term during the summer holiday. My father helped me when I came across something difficult to understand. I believe I’m able to catch up with the class after all these efforts.
Mr. Yan: That’s very good. But you should still work hard in the new term.
Ravi: Yeah. I’ll be more concentrated in class, and raise questions instead of put them aside.
Mr. Yan: Yeah, it’s a good idea to solve your problems in time as knowledge in math is always related.
Ravi: I’ll also do more exercises.
Mr. Yan: This is important. Exercises can help you check whether you’ve really mastered the knowledge and can help promote study transfer.
Ravi: Yep.
Mr. Yan: One more advice, try to apply what you learn in class to real life whenever possible. In this way, you’ll find it easier to understand, remember and use the knowledge.
Ravi: Okay. Thank you very much, Mr. Yan. -
