Dear Amy:

In your last letter, you asked about how to learn English well. Here I’d like to give you some important rules that may lead to success.
The most important one comes LISTENING. You must listen to UNDERSTANDABLE English. You must listen to English EVERYDAY. That is the key to your English study. 
Listening to real English will also help with your grammar. The best way is tolisten to stories told in different times: Past, Present and Future. Try to learn with your ears, not with your eyes. 
In order to improve your speaking, you should learn every word and phrase deeply. It’s not enough to just know its meaning. It’s not enough to just remember it for a test. You must know how and when to use it. Only in this way can you use it naturally and properly in a conversation. Keep this in mind: Learn deeply, speak easily.
