The First American Woman in Space

Sally Ride is no longer with NASA. She has gone back to her research work at Stanford University.

There she has continued working on space projects. At the same time, her report has helped NASA in its recent work. Her successes at NASA have done a lot to help change NASA's view of women, too.

NASA has put a lot more women into the space programme in recent years. More womenhave joined Space Shuttle trips and have flown in space. In fact, it has becomecompletely normal for women to travel in space.
