The teacher asked John,“ John, if I give you two rabbits and then two more rabbits and then two more rabbits, how many would you have?”
John said, “Seven”.
“Ok John,” the teacher said. “ Let’s try it another way. If I gave you two apples, plus two more apples, plus two more apples. How many apples would you have?”
“Six.” John said.
“Ok”, said the teacher. “Now if I gave you two rabbits, then two more rabbits, then two more rabbits. How many would you have?”
“Seven, Teacher,” John said.
“Why seven?” the teacher asked angrily.
John said, “ Because I already have one rabbit at home!”
老师问约翰：“约翰，我给你两只兔子，然后在给你两只，接着在给你两只，你一共有几只兔子？”
约翰回答：“七只。”
“好吧，约翰，”老师说。 “我们换一种说法。 我给你两个苹果， 然后再给你两个， 接着再给你两个。你一共有几个苹果？”
“六个，” 约翰说。
“好，”老师说。“那现在假如我给你两只兔子，然后在给你两只，接着在给你两只，你一共有几只兔子？”
“七只，老师。”约翰说。
“怎么会是七只？”老师生气地问。
“以为我家已经有一只兔子了，” 约翰回答。
