HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN

　HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN(1805-1875), was Denmark's most famous author（作家）. His fairy tales（童话） are among the most widely read works in world literature（世界文学）. His stories have attracted(吸引) young readers around the world. 
　　Andersen’s words are simple （简单的）, and often with humor （幽默）. Like Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels, Andersen's fairy tales can be considered（被看作） both children's literature and adult’s literature（成人文学）. Many of Andersen's fairy tales have serious moral meanings （教育意义）for adults. 
　　Andersen was born in Odense（奥登色，丹麦一城市）. He was the son of a poor shoemaker（鞋匠） who died when Hans was 11 years old. He left Odense at the age of 14 and went to Copenhagen（哥本哈根，丹麦首都）. He nearly starved （饥饿）while trying to earn a living（谋生） as an actor（演员）, singer and dancer. In Copenhagen, he received help from Jonas Collin and continued（继续） his study from 1822 to 1828. 
　　In 1829, his first play（戏剧） was produced. For several years, Andersen gained reputation （赢得荣誉）as a writer. 
　　Andersen published (出版)his first tale in 1835, and continued(继续) writing them until he died. The stories became popular（受欢迎的） in the early 1840's, and made Andersen famous. Besides the fairy tales, Andersen wrote many travel books（游记） and an autobiography（自传） called The Fairy Tales of My Life.

汉斯. 克里斯汀. 安徒生 （1805-1875） 是丹麦最有名的作家。他的童话是世界上最广为流传的文学作品之一，被译成一百多种文字，吸引了一代又一代的小读者。 
　　安徒生的作品语言简洁,充满了智慧和幽默。就像《格列弗游记》一样，安徒生的童话既可以被看作儿童文学，又可以被看作成人文学。它的许多童话故事寓含着针对成人的思想教育意义。 
　　安徒生出生于奥登色的一个鞋匠之家。在他11岁时，他的父亲去世了。14岁时，他离开家乡来到哥本哈根谋生。他做过演员和舞蹈演员，当过歌手，过着饥寒交迫的生活。在好朋友科林的帮助下，安徒生在1822年到1828年间继续学习。 
　　1829年，安徒生的第一部戏剧诞生了。在随后的几年里，他的知名度迅速提高。1835年，他发表了第一篇童话。在此后的几十年里，他一共写了168篇童话。19世纪四十年代初，安徒生的童话开始广为流传，他的声望也越来越高。除了童话，他还写了许多游记和一本自传：《我生命中的童话》。
