A letter from Jimmy  

Dear Xiao Ming:
  I am glad to become your pen pal. You tell me lots of Chinese festivals in your last letter, and I am very interested in them. So I hope I can spend the Spring Festival with your family next year.
  Next I will introduce some American festivals to you.
  Christmas is a religious festival. It is the day we celebrate as the birthday of Jesus. There are special Christmas services in Christian churches all over the world. But many of the festivities of Christmas do not have anything to do with religion. Exchanging gifts and sending Christmas cards are the modern ways of celebrating the Christmas in the world.
  Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the most important feast in the Christian calendar. The churches are filled with worshipers4, the altars are decorated with flowers, and the music proclaims the joy of the season. Easter Sunday falls sometime between March 22 and April 25. It falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon following March 21. The new clothes worn on Easter Sunday are a symbol of new life.
  April Fools' Day is a day to play jokes on others, No one knows how this holiday began but people think it first started in France. In the America, people play small jokes on their friends and any other people on the first of April. They may point down to your shoe and say, “Your shoelace is untied.” If you believe them and look down to see, you are an April Fool.
  Among the three festivals, I love Christmas best, because I can get lots of new toys from my Mum and Dad. And I can go to the church with my family. It’s really an exciting festival in USA.
