Eat in America 

  Eating out is one of the joys in the USA. The food is usually good and often excellent; the prices are reasonable; and the service is mostly fine. 

Eating Custom and Practice 用餐习惯 
American eating is funny. They eat almost everything with a fork, and holding a knife in one's right hand longer than a few seconds is considered to be bad manners. 
If it is necessary to use a knife, people take the fork in their left hand, and cut off a piece of meat. Then they put the knife down, transfer the fork to their right hand, and put the food to their mouth. This is ridicrous(滑稽可笑), but it is considered good manners. 
 
Fast Food 快餐食品 
American fast-foods are very popular all over the world. There is a long counter（柜台）, and a list of the food. Behind the counter there are several serving people. You receive your food and take it with a tray to a table. Then you have to pick up thing like straws(吸管), pepper, salt, ketchup(蕃茄酱), pickles(泡菜)and napkins（餐巾纸）by yourself. If you can't see any knives and forks, you should eat with your hands. If you can't see any straws, that's because they are hiding in the straw dispenser(分配器). So you have to get a straw from the dispenser. When you've finished your meal, you can throw away everything except the tray. 
   
Types of Fast Food Restaurants 快餐店的种类 
The most popular fast-food restaurant is often serving hamburgers, such as the MacDonald. All the different restaurant have their own specialties（特色）. Arby's restaurants serve large roast beef, ham and cheese, and turkey(火鸡)"sandwiches". Some restaurant specialize（专攻） in serving steaks quickly and cheaply. And then there's Kentucky Fried Chicken. It is famous in China.
