Festivals
In different countries, people have their own festivals. For example, in China, we have a lot of festivals, such as Spring Festival, Ching ming, Dragon Boat Race Festival, Mid-autumn Festival. In the Western countries, like America, UK, Spain, they also have their own festivals, such as Christmas, Easter Day, Halloween. People celebrate the festivals in their own way. For example, In New Year’s Day, there are many and different customs from one country to another. Let’s see:
Japan
On December 31st, people enjoy talking, watching TV, and eating long noodles to insure long life.
Just at midnight, some famous temples ring 108 sounds with a temple bell.
On the morning of New Year’s Day, people drink Japanese sake to celebrate.
Italy
On the New Year’s Eve people take old things they don’t need or want anymore and throw them out the window into the street.
Korea
On every New Year’s Eve people watch a striking-a-bell ceremony on TV. The bell is struck 33 times.
On New Year’s Day a lot of people go to the sea to watch the sunrise.
On seeing the sunrise, people make their new wishes.
