Tom: Can you tell me about Chinese festivals?

Ann: Yes. My favourite festival is the Spring Festival.

Tom: When is it?

Ann: It is on the first day of the first lunar month. The Chinese Spring Festival or the Chinese Lunar New Year is the most important and widely observed festival throughout the whole country.

Tom: And what happens?

Ann: To the Chinese, the Spring Festival is a time for family union, for visits with friends, for good wishes for the coming year. Before the eve of the New Year, everyone tries to come back home from every corner of the country to join the entire family, just like Americans' practice for Christmas, to greet the New Year.

Tom: That is very busy!
