The highlight of 2014 at theme parks will be the second coming of Potter at Universal Orlando. The original Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure will be expanded with a second land devoted to Diagon Alley in London at the adjacent Universal Studios Florida. Cross-town rival, Walt Disney World will wrap up its ambitious expansion of New Fantasyland with the highly-anticipated Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. On the other side of the country, California theme parks will mostly devote 2014 to sprucing up existing rides and attractions.

There will be plenty of thrills at parks as well with old coasters getting new leases on life, new coasters bringing new reasons to scream, and really tall tower rides taking fear of heights to new heights. Younger kids, who wouldn't meet the height requirements to board the mega thrill machines, will also find new and improved lands with toned-down rides awaiting them at the parks.
