    On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first human being to walk on the Moon. Millions of people around the world watched and listened it. The mission to the Moon was named “Apollo 11”.

    Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio in 1930. He was on a plane for the first time at the age of six. He took flying lessons in his teens and got a flying license even before he was eligible for driving. Armstrong was a Navy pilot from 1949 to 1952. In 1955, he became a test pilot for high-performance aircraft at the High-Speed Flight Station in California. In 1962, he was selected by NASA to become an astronaut.

    While making his first step on the moon, Armstrong said, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
