Studying  aboard

    As time goes by, more and more Chinese students start to go abroad for studies, motivated by the good humanistic environment and the thick study atmosphere, although the charges may be expensive sometimes.

    To study abroad is of some advantages indeed. Firstly, the education system in foreign countries is far more advanced, reflecting in the teaching methods. Secondly, students abroad are always of high qualities, so studying abroad can not only increase our knowledge but also learn to well conduct ourselves.

    Of course, studying abroad do have some disadvantages, mainly the high cost, which may cause lots of pressures on the families without good financial support. What's more, students studying abroad have to face the communication problems and adapt to the new life environment, if students don't deal with these problems properly, they may meet more trouble.

    In my opinion, studying abroad is advisable to certain degree, like learning more comprehensive knowledge and foreigner's thought ways, however, we must make full and good preparation for it first of all.

Reading selectively or extensively

    There is no doubt that reading is very important. But when it comes to how to read, there has sprung up a heated discussion as to whether we should read selectively or we should read extensively.

    Those who are in favor of the idea of reading selectively believe that it is not how much one reads but what he reads that really counts. As living in an age when much time has to be taken up by work and other activities, people are unable to find enough time to read extensively even if they intend to.

    However, those who insist on reading extensively argue that it is through reading extensively that we obtain most of our knowledge. Now branches of knowledge diverge into each other rather than are isolated from each other.

    In my opinion, we should read both selectively and extensively. We should select the books which are useful for our purposes. And we should broaden our knowledge by reading extensively.
