The birds and the beasts are fighting. The bat does not join in the fight.

Some birds say to the bat, "Come with us." But he replies, "I am a beast."

Later on, some beasts say to him, "Come with us." But he replies, "I am a bird."

The fighting is going to end peacefully. The bat first goes to the birds, and wants to join in the celebration, but they all turn against him. He then goes to the beasts, but they drive him away.
