Unit 2 Who is taller这一单元总共需要6课时，本节课是这一单元的第一课，主要教学内容包括学习词汇：bigger，smaller，taller，older，longer，funnier，smarter，quieter，newer和句型：A is taller than B（包括两个人物之间和两个事物之间的比较）。在课堂教学的过程中，教师要从实际生活中选择适合本节课的教学内容，使学习内容贴近学生生活的实际，同时，引导学生学以致用，能在实际生活中，应用比较级来对事物进行对比。通过本节课的学习，学生能够了解英语中比较级的用法，并能够在生活中进行应用交流沟通。

本课以跨越式理论（“儿童思维发展新论”和“语觉论”）为指导，以“言语交际为中心”，借助多媒体网络教学环境，为学生创设丰富、生动、贴近生活实际的英语交流环境。倡导合作、实践、参、与交流的学习方式，使每个学生都能积极参与到课堂的每个教学环境中，培养学生的英文素养。

1、能够听说读写以下这些形容词的比较级：bigger，smaller，taller，older，longer，funnier，smarter，quieter，newer。

2、能够听说读写比较两者不同的以下交际用语：“Zheng Jun is taller than Ling Ding。Who is shorter？”

3、能够应用本节课的句型对两个事物进行简单比较。

4、通过观察、比较活动，提高学生的敏锐观察力。

本节课的教学对象为小学5年级的学生，有了四年的英语学习经历，具备一定的英语听说读写能力，掌握了一些基础的英语学习方法。同时，理解能力和语言应用能力相比较低年段的学生有了显著提高，对英语学习的积极性和主动性更高。

重点：

1、词汇：bigger，smaller，taller，older，longer，funnier，smarter，quieter，newer。

 2、句型：（1）两个人物之间的比较：“Max is bigger than Anna. Who is smaller? Ted is smaller than Tom.”

             （2）两个事物的比较：“Max’s ruler is longer than Anna’s ruler

 难点：

1、形容词比较级的变化形式和对含有比较级的句子的理解

 2、不同类别的形容词比较级的变化规律

1、跨越式英语网络资源

2、生活中的具体实例：水果、文具等（易于做比较的）

3、辅助言语交际的材料：图片

Step1：Warm up.（5分钟）

1、let’s talk

师生对话，引导学生回忆复习旧知识（字词、句型等）例如：What’s this？What’s the weather like today?等句型。

2、Lead in

T：Before our class, I will give you a story about “Ted and Haley”，let’s look and listen Resources：Reading1（龟兔赛跑的故事）。

We all know this story，Haley run fast, Ted was slowly，but how we compare two of them? In this calss, we will learn it.

设计意图：复习旧知识，加强教师与学生的交流，激起学生动口的欲望，为新课程的教学铺设英语学习环境。引用龟兔赛跑的故事，导入本节课的教学内容，让学生对所学知识有初步的印象。

Step2：presentation.（7分钟）

1、look listen and say：what’s this？ It is ruler，the ruler is short

Who is he，he is Jim ‘father，he is old.（展示一组图片，带有大小、长短、新旧等的对比）

2、go into“words”and listen more words or simple sentences about shapes 

设计意图：根据学生的认知特点和学习习惯，先让学生从简单的新知识开始学习，充分利用跨越式网络资源，学习新词汇和短语。

Step3：activity（8分钟）

1、师生对话：T：how old are you？S1：I am 9 years old。S2：I am 8

T：we can say S1 is older than S2。（bigger，smaller，taller，older，longer，funnier，smarter，quieter，newer）

2、生生对话：同桌两两利用图片、实物，进行口头比较。

3、教师反馈，big—bigger small—smaller tall—taller等。

设计意图：此环节，让师生对话、生生对话的过程中，加深对新单词的理解，尤其是比较级的意义，同时，对比较两个事物的句型有初步的印象。

Step4：Learn（5分钟）

讨论主题图：帮助学生理解新语言，利用跨越式网络资源Dialogue1、Dialogue2。

Dialogue1：

The children are doing their fitness tests.

Miss Li: Pat, you’re 142 cm tall and 32 kg.

Pat: This year, I’m taller and heavier.

Miss Li: Yes, you’re growing fast.

Mr Chen: Tim is faster this year.

Miss Li: Yes, he’s doing well.

Mr Chen: Bob is slower this year. He’s last in the race.

Miss Li: Wow! Candy is stronger this year. She can lift some very heavy weights.

Mr Chen: And Bob is weaker. He can only do two pull-ups. Last year, he did four.

Dialogue2：

      Miss Li: Let’s talk about the table tennis team.

      Mr Chen: Good idea.
      Miss Li: Holly must practise more. Lynn is faster than her.
      Mr Chen: Yes. She should practise with Lynn. That’ll help.
      Miss Li: Lynn is very tall. She’s taller than Dave.
      Mr Chen: Yes. She grew very fast.
      Miss Li: Kevin is very short.
      Mr Chen: Yes, he’s shorter than Dave but Kevin is very fast. He’s also stronger than Dave.
      Miss Li: Hmmmm. Then Dave should exercise his arms more.
      Holly: Miss Li! Mr Chen!
      Mr Chen: That’s Holly.
      Miss Li: Yes, she’s louder than Lynn.
      Mr Chen: We’ll be there in a minute, Holly. Practise with Lynn.
      Holly: OK, Mr Chen.

设计意图：听读网络课程材料，围绕不同的主题场景，引导学生学会在日常生活中进行简单的两种事物比较的口语交流。

Step5：activity（8分钟）

1、让学生按要求出示实物或动作

T：Please listen and do as I say. Take out two things. One is big and the other one is bigger. Good, Now take out another two things. One is -----and the other is---

S:This bag is big, that bag is bigger.

 2、同桌之间相互听句型，快速说出听到的形容词的比较级。

S1：You are taller than me, you like to play football.

S2：taller!

设计意图：围绕课文重难点，通过活动设计，引导学生加深对比较级的理解。

Step6：Write（7分钟）

根据课文C部分，先组织学生根据给定内容进行讨论，然后根据自己的理解完成相应的填空练习。

设计意图：联系生活实际，为学生提供真实生活场景，进行比较交际练习，同时，听说读写的综合，落实课标的掌握。
