                                The Map of Life
     Edwin was born in the town of Newlife. He lived there for three or four years playing in the sunny fields and gardens of Early Happiness and Family Love. Then one day he started his journey into the Mountains of Education. These mountains run in many different directions, giving many beautiful views. The highest mountains rise up out of sight, their tops in the clouds. Some people never leave the mountains most stay a few years; others pass quickly over a few low hills on one side of the main mountains.
     Edwin climbed Primary Hill without any trouble, but he had more difficulty with the steeper Secondary Hill. For a time he was lost in the Valley of Laziness, a very dangerous place full of deep holes. Edwin climbed out of the valley and went through the Forest of Hard Work to the top of Mount University. From there he could look down on the Sea of Business. He spent many years coming and going on this sea with its many islands. The weather changed quickly on the sea and many boats were lost, but Edwin was careful, and he found many beautiful things on the shore of the Island of Sales.
     Later he built a house in the town of Marriage. He and his wife and daughter enjoyed walking through the famous Gardens of Music and Art with all the lovely flowers and birds flying through the air. They also went once a week to swim in the clear waters of Lake Health. They never went near the yellow brown waters of Smoking River where so many swimmers lost their lives. Their daughter left them to explore the Mountains of Education.
    One day they decided to move to a quiet village, called Old Age, in the province of Success. They have a lovely home. The garden is full of trees heavy with memory and friendship fruit. The house faces the sea, which looks very peaceful shining in the soft moonlight.
