Questions:
(1)In the United States, when does Children’s Day fall on?
(2)Do you like Children’s Day? Why?Children’s Day
Children's Day never fails to bring young kids very much fun. But do you have any idea why we have this joyful holiday? In 1952, representatives from 54 countries held a meeting in Geneva, Swiss, and agreed to promote the life, wealth, health and education of children.
Every country, poor or rich should promise the young generations happy lives. Later, more and more countries saw the need to stress the importance ofchildcare and then June 1st was made International Children's Day.
In the United States, the Children's Day falls on May 1st. In Britain, people celebrate it on July 14th. As we can see, every country has its own Children's Day and ways to celebrate it.In Japan, there are three specific dates for Children's Day. The first of them falls on March 3rd and is called Girls' Festival or Dolls' Festival. Families with young daughters mark this day by setting up a display of dolls in traditional costumes. Boys' Festival falls on May 5th and families with boys fly huge carp-shaped streamers outside the house to wish for strength and power. November 15th is Children's Day for boys and girls aged three, five and seven. Children put on the traditional costumes and visit shrines, carrying bags with pictures of cranes and turtles—two animals that stand for long life. It's very interesting, isn't it?
