In the United States, the climax of the New Year celebration is on the New Year's Eve: go to church, make up parties... And some people make their own "New Year'sresolutions", such as quitting smoking, loosing some weight...

Brazil, in South America, holds her world-famous carnival and Samba Dancingcompetition for New Year celebration, which always attracts a lot of tourists. In Europe, Portugal has a very special way to celebrate the New Year by watchingbullfights. Tourists from all over the world experience an exciting New Year.
Countries in Asia also think highly of New Year's Day. For example, Japanese think New Year's Day as the most important holiday in the year. And there are many celebrations such as watching NHK's special variety shows, having "the first month's food", dressing up for going out to pray for the Seven Lucky Gods....

In Taiwan, there are more and more celebrations for New Year's Day as well. For instance, an open-air live concert on New Year's Eve always attracts a lot of young people. Hundreds and thousands of people gather together for the final countdown, which is the most important part of the whole celebration.
