Possible future

We shall see many changes takes place over the next fifty years. Many of these changes will probably happen because of nanotechnology—a technology that uses very ,very small things.

The world of the very small is ,in a way, as big as the universe. The world is made of atoms, and that every atom also has parts. For something very, very small the space between one part of an atom may seem to be as big as the space between the earth and the moon is for something much larger.

Nanotechnology will make it possible for us Nanotechnology will make it possible for us to put very, very small machines into our bodies. These will enable us to do many things that we cannot do now. And computers, for example, will have chips that are much smaller than they have now, but which can carry much more data. It is likely that we will be able to join our brains to very large computers. We shall become super-humans and very different from the kind of human we are today. A possible problem that could develop from nanotechnology is that could develop from nanotechnology is that these machines will know how to reproduce themselves. They could take overωr bodies and everything else.

Another likely change is that there will be many people who will live to be at least 100 years old. There may be people who are 150 years old. Genetic engineering and medical breakthroughs will enable us to be healthier and stronger. By changing certain genes in ourselves or other organisms we can prevent disease and aging.
