                        Joys of Sleeping in Outer Space

    R=Reporter I=Ivins B=Barry
    Ivins and Barry are astronauts. Now they share some details about sleeping in outer space.

    R: How did you feel sleeping in outer space on your first few nights away from Earth?
    B: Ivins and I felt a little awkward. My arms got loose and floated onto my face, slapping myself awake.
    R: What’s your feeling now?
    B: Sleeping in space is fantastic! You just float… and it's perfect. After a few rounds, I found it possible to relax, and once I got the hang of it, any time I needed to sleep — wherever and whenever I could — I would just close, my eyes, and off I'd go.
    R: Well, what about Ivins?
    I: I like it very much. I'm one of those 'likes to sleep under lots and lots of covers' people. But in space, not even the heaviest blanket will lay on you — so you don't get that feeling of weight-on-top.
    R: Do you need pillows in outer space?
    I: Yes, I attached my pillow to my head — otherwise it would float away, or my head would just float up, and I would wake with a stiff neck.
    R: If there is chance for you to go to space again, will you go?
    B: Of course. I can fall asleep almost anywhere in space. It's just totally relaxed sleeping. I love sleeping in space.
