Thousands of years ago, there was very clever king(国王). Once there were two women living in the same house. Each of them had a baby. One night one of the babies died(死). Its mother took(抱) the other mother’s baby and put it on her bed.

     The next morning they had a quarrel(吵架). Both of them wanted the living(活的) baby and each said the baby was hers. Then someone told (告诉)them to go to King Soloman.

      After the king heard the story. He said,  “Bring me a knife. Cut(砍) the baby in two, and gave each of you one half(一半).”

     “That’s very good. What a clever king you are!” said the dead baby’s mother. “Give her my baby. Let it be hers, but don’t kill(杀死) the bay.” Cried the other mother with tears(眼泪) in her eyes.

      Then the king Soloman pointed to her and said,” Give you the baby, for you are its mother.”
