Changes in Shenzhen

Before 1979, Shenzhen was a small town. In the 1980s, it started to change. People came to Shenzhen from all over the country. They worked very hard in factories, banks, shops, schools and offices.

Workers also built a lot of tall buildings in Shenzhen. There are tall apartment buildings and office buildings. There are also large shopping malls. People can buy things at good prices there. People like to live, work and shop in Shenzhen.

Before the 1980s, there were only small roads in Shenzhen. Now there are a lot of modern roads and highways. There is always a lot of traffic in Shenzhen—day and night. Shenzhen became a big city in just 10 years.
