Social Visits
Americans often plan social gatherings(聚会、集会).Did your friend invite you to their home or to see a movie or baseball game? It’s very common(普通的;常见的).
Liuhai is a Chinese boy, and he just came to NewYork. He lived in his uncle’s house.
Liuhai received an invitation to his classmate Bill’s house for dinner. Liuhai’s aunt told him:
Oh, boy, don’t be too earlier, because Bill may still be preparing for the dinner. Don’t be too late, because it’s not polite.
Liuhai: sounds different from China. Shall I bring something to Bill’s home?
You can bring a basket of fruit, a box of candy, or flowers. But do not bring roses.
It sounds interesting! Please don’t bring roses to your host’s home and don’t be too earlies and too late. -
