CREATION OF CHINESE CYBERSPACE

Background and Scope
----------------------------
The GCCCE conference series was initiated by
a Steering Committee comprising researchers from China, Hong Kong, Macau,
Singapore, Taiwan and U.S.A. in 1997. The first conference was held in
Guangzhou(1997),the second in Hong Kong(1998), the third in Macau(1999), and the
fourth in Singapore(2000). One-quarter of the population in the world speak
Chinese. We, at the beginning of the new millenium, should now think about and
begin to take action to establish a networked world of Chinese language
and cultural in nature. Issues such as how Chinese network content be created
collaborately and shared by different communities and regions in the world and
how such a cyberspace spurs on to knowledge economy in these regions should be
discussed. But all of these will have a common basis - the research and
deployment of learning technology in education. The conference will consists of
three tracks: research track by academia, application track by K12 and
universityteachers, and industry track by related business and practitioners.
Papers submitted to the conference have their focuses in (but are not limited
to) one of the following topics:

Paper Submission
----------------------
Submissions for GCCCE2001 are categorized into full papers
and short papers. Full papers should be 6-8 pages; short papers should be 2-4
pages. Each paper should include a title, keywords, 200-word abstract,body
texts, and a bibliography. Please do not put authors' name(s) on the paper.
Submitted papers must be written in English or Chinese.Submissions should be
written on A4 or 8.5" x 11" white paper,single-sided using
single-spacing, single column and 10-point Times fontfor English; Song/Ming font
for Chinese. Submissions must include a cover page and 4 copies of the complete
manuscript. The cover page should include: title of the paper with a 200-word
abstract, keywords, indication of the sub-themes the paper belongs to, authors'
name(s) with affiliation(s), address(es), phone number(s), fax number(s) and
E-mail
address(es). (Please indicate the primary contact person if it is different from
the first author.) Electronic submissions should preferably be in PDF or Ms-Word
format. For Chinese papers, electronic submissions must specify coding scheme,
e.g., BIG5 or GB. Accepted papers will be published in the proceedings, with
understanding that at lease one of the authors should register the conference.
